The Icon of Sin was the polar opposite of the Spider Mastermind. This culminates with the clearest comparison: It feels more like you're being lead along in glorified QTEs rather than organically ripping and tearing the way you want. 2016 was all about freedom to kill the way you wanted, but Eternal forces you to play in one specific way that feels unsatisfying. Pinkies are now basically invulnerable from the front, so rather than having the choice to kill them head-on or dodge them to hit their back as in 2016, in Eternal it's basically required that you shoot them in the back. Even returning enemies get fucked with in this way. Too many new enemies require one specific path to eliminate them, or at the very least make alternate paths impractical or not worth the ammo. I think it says a lot to how limiting Eternal is with its sandbox when every new enemy has a popup explaining exactly how to defeat them, which 2016 never had to my knowledge. So every Marauder fight becomes the same exact thing circle strafe while SSing them during their attack. Plus, logistically, you're going to have to use the super shotgun, as every other gun is too slow or too weak. The Marauders have to be taken down the way the game tells you, because they're shield is impenetrable and they never stagger unless you hit them during their attack.

Still, loving most of it.Ĭurious, what skin are y’all using? I’m using the armor similar to the Marauder. And some of those side challenges are pain. Hell, I was having an issue where I wouldn’t gain XP because I kept disconnecting, so that sucked. Overall, I’m having a blast, but some things are tedious. Sucks that I didn’t know that, as I would LOVE to hear this music on it’s own. If it weren’t for the shield, he’d be a lot more enjoyable.Īlso just learned that if I had bought the deluxe (or was it collectors?) I would have been able to get the game’s soundtrack early. I liked the demon hunters after a while, but the marauder I’m mixed on.

I’m playing the second to hardest difficulty, and it’s honestly a blast when the music starts bumping and I’m in the mood, but yeah, the new demons can be a pain in the ass. And I definitely agree with you on those wolves. What I did was use to the flamethrower on the background demons to get health and armor, and often kept one alive to chainsaw for ammo for the Super Shotgun.
